During their GCSE course, pupils will build on their knowledge and understanding of media products and their contexts, by studying a range of texts from a range of time periods and platforms. Pupils will develop their analytical and evaluation skills through exploration of semiotic analysis and academic theory, which they will learn to critique and evaluate. Pupils will develop their skills in order to analyse a range of media texts using semiotic analysis. Pupils will apply academic theory to texts and explain how they are influenced by society. They will learn to understand the ownership models of texts and how economic power impacts on production processes. In addition, they will be able to draw judgements and conclusions about selection and combination and the impact on the audience.
