The need for both health and social care in UK society is likely to continue to rise so the demand for people to carry out these vital roles will increase. Our curriculum aims to ensure that all learners leave Key Stage 4 with a firm understanding of key roles in the health and social care sector. Study will complement GCSE study by providing an opportunity for practical application alongside conceptual study. There are also strong opportunities for post‐16 progression in this valuable sector.
Cambridge National use a combination of assessment styles to give pupils confidence to apply their knowledge and succeed in the workplace. They also provide the study skills to continue learning throughout higher education and their futurecareer. This range of vocational assessments, both practical and written, means pupils can showcase their learning and achievements to best effect in supporting applications to higher education courses or potential employers.
Cambridge National Level 1 and 2 courses are delivered through a combination of teaching phases and controlled assessment phases. During a teaching phase, pupils are taught all the content needed in preparation for controlled assessment (coursework) or an external exam. During the controlled assessment phase, pupils are given regular homework, mock assessments tasks and regular feedback. There are also opportunities to overcome any misconceptions to ensure they are prepared for external exams or controlled assessment. Every lesson begins with a memory platform which enables pupils to recap content they've previously been taught. Work is regularly tracked to ensure that pupils are working at their expected grade or higher.
