Year 9 pupils are at the start of the process of selecting their GCSE options for Year 10. This is the most important stage in your child’s education so far and we understand it can be an anxious time. Making the right decisions and choices is of vital importance.
The GCSE Options Evening is on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 at 4pm-5.30pm. The evening is specifically for pupils in Year 9 and their parents/carers. We are approaching the time when pupils will, for the first time in their education, have some degree of flexibility in what they will study.
● find out about GCSEs, vocational courses and the Year 10 & 11 curriculum.
● find out what is involved in studying subjects in Years 10 & 11.
● be aware of the advice and guidance available from the school and other sources.
● be aware of the timescales for making choices about Key Stage 4 study.
During the evening you will also be expected to meet with your child’s Maths, English and Science teacher. You will have the opportunity to discuss attainment, progress and behaviour. Pupils will be required to make appointments prior to the evening with their Maths, English, and Science teachers.
Further information can be found in your child’s progress TEAM and on the College website under ‘Options’.
This is an extremely important event in your child’s education, so it is vital that you attend.
