The Spanish curriculum is designed to ensure that pupils become skilled in both written and oral communication, in order to be able to understand a wide variety of authentic texts. At Marsden Heights, we are committed to nurturing our pupils’ love of languages, whilst also ensuring that we put them on the right track to achieving excellence at GCSE. Our curriculum is delivered using a wide range of methods, focussed on listening, reading, speaking and writing as our four main skills. Our lessons use independent and group learning, in order to shape our pupils into both independent learners, and team players with excellent communication skills.
The changes brought by the 2016 specification have seen culture, history and literature also become fundamental aspects of our curriculum. This ensures that our pupils not only become successful linguists, but also develop a keen interest in the Hispanic world. At Marsden Heights, we believe that the ability to understand and communicate in more than one language is an excellent skill for both education and employment opportunities in the future.
