Year 10 Mock Interview Day Tammy Quinn / 02 July 2025 / Categories: General Students at Marsden School took a big step toward their futures during the Year 10 Mock Interview Day. This was an exciting and important event designed to help students explore their career aspirations and develop the skills needed for life beyond education. In the lead-up to the interviews, students spent time in PSHE lessons learning how to prepare effectively. They researched careers of interest, reflected on their strengths, practiced interview techniques, and built confidence. They have also been encouraged to set short-term academic goals, from improving attendance and attainment, to stepping up as student leaders or making a difference in their community. The mock interviews gave students a realistic and professional experience, with volunteers from a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, policing, and recruitment. Student reflections were positive: “I am proud of myself.” “I shared about the awards I have achieved at Marsden.” “I shared about how I am determined and enthusiastic and linked it to my hobby outside of school.” Employers were impressed with students’ effort and offered advice: “You could tell that the student had prepared.” “The student had positive body language, sat up straight and used good eye contact.” “The personal achievements shared were really good.” “The student was passionate about their school.” “Look at more than one college for your next steps.” “Good luck for the future!” A huge thank you to all the employers and guests who gave up their time to support our students: Inspira / Careers & Enterprise Company, Nelson & Colne College, Department for Work and Pensions, XLCR Vehicle Management, Youth Futures, the NHS, Recruitment Just Teachers, Training 2000, Spencer Clark, and the Police.
