Team of the Year for Marsden Heights! Tammy Quinn / 01 July 2025 / Categories: General The All Aboard Youth Rowing Schools Regatta 2025 took place at Warrington Rowing Club, and what a brilliant day it was for all the students involved! Huge congratulations to the Marsden Heights’ Year 8 rowing crew who competed against 37 other schools in a day full of energy, sportsmanship, and impressive rowing. It was a standout day for Marsden Heights, whose rowers delivered an outstanding performance. With preparation and dedication, our crew won all of their races and were honoured with the 'Team of the Year' award. Their hard work and commitment throughout the programme truly paid off when the overall results were announced: 5th place out of 35 teams in the Open section, 2nd place out of 7 in the Manchester region, And, of course, the 'Team of the Year' award! Despite starting the programme later than many other schools, our boys made an unforgettable impression, not just on the staff at the club, but also on the Mayor of Warrington! Mr Mashuq Hussain OBE, Senior Youth and Community Worker, said: "This has been one of the best initiatives we’ve been involved in with Year 8s. The commitment and determination of the boys has been exemplary. They have impressed everyone they have come into contact with throughout this programme—even the Mayor of Warrington!" Special thanks go to Community and Youth team for their dedication, and to the coaches at Salford Rowing club, for their support for the team. We’re also excited about what’s next: a shoutout to Rabab and Mahmoor in Year 8, who have expressed interest in starting a girls’ rowing crew. A tour of the rowing facilities has already taken place, and plans are underway for a trial session on the water!
