Teamwork at Positive Voice's Residential Tammy Quinn / 02 June 2026 / Categories: General Our new Positive Voices team were invited to an inspiring training residential at Coldwell Activity Centre, enjoying a packed weekend full of teamwork, personal development and new experiences. The current Year 10 team welcomed the new Year 9 recruits and began the residential by agreeing a shared contract for the weekend, setting clear expectations and building a strong sense of respect and collaboration. Everyone quickly got involved in a series of team challenges before taking part in the engaging “My Superpower” activity, where students reflected on their individual strengths. Each student then confidently presented their ideas to the wider group, demonstrating growing self-belief and communication skills. The evening concluded with supper, some well-earned free time and an early night in preparation for the busy day ahead. Day two began with an energiser to get everyone motivated, followed by a hearty breakfast. The day continued with a variety of team-building challenges that encouraged cooperation, problem-solving and resilience. Students then enjoyed orienteering in the woods, developing navigation skills while working together in a fun outdoor setting. Later in the day, the group welcomed Ben Pearson from our partner organisation, Super Slow Way, who delivered workshops focused on the present and future direction of Positive Voices projects. These sessions gave students valuable insight into how they can make a difference through their work at school and beyond. On the final day, students started with another energiser before making the most of the fresh air by enjoying breakfast outdoors. There was time for one last visit to the woods before the group took part in an evaluation activity, reflecting on their experiences and recognising their personal growth over the weekend. The residential concluded with a group photo, capturing a memorable and meaningful experience, before everyone made their way home. It was a truly jam-packed weekend, filled with games, challenges, laughter and moments of reflection. Students showed excellent commitment, built confidence and created lasting memories. Mash Hussain OBE, Senior Youth and Community Worker, said: “This residential marks an important milestone, as Positive Voices 14 handed over to Positive Voices 15, continuing the legacy of this programme. The group is now ready to carry forward their important work at a local, national and international level, and we look forward to seeing their continued success.” Previous Article U15 Cricket Win!
