Pendle Hill Climb Tammy Quinn / 02 June 2026 / Categories: General On the 20th and 21st May, Marsden Heights Community College’s Year 7 students took part in an exciting and rewarding challenge - climbing the iconic Pendle Hill from Barley. Accompanied by Marsden Heights staff and experienced mountain leaders, students completed a five-mile walk designed to challenge the students but also to bring to life the school’s core values of Respect, Aspiration and Resilience. The event began at Barley Café, Pendle Hill, giving students a full day of fresh air, exercise and teamwork in a beautiful local setting. The route had been carefully planned in collaboration with mountain leaders to ensure it offered the best and most accessible path to the summit. Throughout the day, there was additional support in place for any students who found the climb more challenging, ensuring that everyone could take part successfully and feel a sense of achievement. Students demonstrated fantastic determination, resilience and positive attitudes as they worked together to complete the walk. Whether pushing themselves to reach the top or encouraging their peers along the way, they truly embodied the Marsden Heights ethos.
