Students Celebrated at University of Oxford Tammy Quinn / 16 March 2026 / Categories: General This week, a group of Marsden Heights’ students in Year 8 enjoyed an exciting trip to the University of Oxford where they took part in a special Celebration Day at St Anne’s College to celebrate their involvement in the Secondary Social Action Programme. Over the past several months, the team of students have been co-ordinating a school community social action project to encourage sustainability and support others in the community. They invited students, staff and families through assemblies, form visits and other communication to donate clothes for a local charity, Safenet. As part of the Celebration Day, Fatima, Aila, Noor and Hamna confidently presented their project to young people from schools across United Learning and spoke about the impact of their work on our school and local communities. They also enjoyed taking part in a range of activities hosted by the university including a taster lecture on a and a campus tour by the student ambassadors. To mark their accomplishments, the students were awarded badges and a certificate to take back to school. Congratulations and very well done to all our students who took part. We are so proud of their efforts and the way they so brilliantly represented our school. Mrs Dell, Education with Character Lead, said: “It was a pleasure to celebrate Fatima, Aila, Noor and Hamna for their exceptional dedication to social action and to see them present their project at a United Learning event in Oxford. “Their hard work, teamwork and determination have been truly inspiring, and they have shown admirable leadership throughout their project.
