Marsden Heights Youth Conferences Tammy Quinn / 08 December 2025 / Categories: General Over the past two weeks, Marsden Heights Community College has been buzzing with energy as students from Years 7 to 10 took part in a series of Youth Conferences designed to amplify youth voice and foster leadership skills. These events were organised by the Youth and Community team, and delivered in partnership with Positive Voices, alongside community partners and school committees. Across all year groups, students engaged in workshops on School Environment, Future Expectations, Community Engagement, and Youth Issues and Culture. Older students joined sessions tackling important topics such as the dangers of vaping, whilst all year groups enjoyed team-building challenges, which encouraged collaboration and confidence. Special thanks to our community partners: Maj Mahmood from Building Bridges led the inspiring ‘Me and My Community’ sessions. Zoya Bhatti from In-Situ joined the Year 10 conference for thought-provoking discussions. Each conference ended with a classic chippy tea, giving students time to relax and reflect on their experiences. In total, more than 170 young people participated across all four year groups, sharing ideas and shaping the future of their school and community. Student feedback was fantastic! “I liked all the activities, and I learnt to be confident.” Aminah, Year 7 “I learnt new skills and social skills.” Haaris, Year 8 “I learnt about the effects of vaping and how to change our communities.” Hajra, Year 9 “We learnt about youth opportunities and personal growth.” Year 10 Previous Article Women’s Conference at MHCC
