Making Waves at Indoor Rowing Championships Tammy Quinn / 27 January 2026 / Categories: General We are celebrating the Marsden Heights’ Year 8 rowing crew who won Gold and Bronze at the All Aboard Indoor Rowing Championships 2026. This is our second year taking part in the rowing scheme. Following the success of last year’s crew, a new team was recruited in September 2025 to continue building on that achievement. In preparation for the competition, the students trained weekly at Salford Watersports Centre. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, they completed warm-up and practice sessions, alongside challenging conditioning workouts in the gym. Their training programme also included fitness challenges and technical drills designed to build strength, stamina and rowing technique. The championships saw hundreds of young people competing to represent schools from across the Northwest. The Marsden Heights crew delivered an outstanding performance in the Team Relays, with the boys securing the Gold medal and the girls achieving an excellent Bronze. Congratulations to our exceptional rowing crew: Fatme, Halima, Zunaira, Sophia, Zainab, Ayaan, Sabeeh, Rayyan, Rehan and Qasam. Mr Delve, Principal, said: “Teamwork, energy and determination were key for this event, and our students showed all three in abundance. Their performances in the team relays were outstanding, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. We look forward to celebrating their success in school.” The group will continue their weekly training sessions until July 2026, further developing their skills before progressing from indoor rowing to on-water sessions in boats.
