Developing Our Student Leaders Tammy Quinn / 27 January 2026 / Categories: General Our Year 10 Prefects recently took part in leadership training focused on responsibility, confidence and positive influence within the school community. Students explored the expectations of their role, including behaviour, uniform and the importance of always representing the school professionally. By modelling Marsden Heights’ values and expectations, they are role models for the school and their peers. The session covered key duties such as managing the lunch queue, supporting the Proud Table and welcoming visitors to school events. Through discussion and role-play activities, students practised each situation, working as a team and knowing when to take responsibility. A key message was the importance of seeing a need and stepping in, as offering support and help goes a long way. Year 10 Prefect Eva said: “I learnt how to tackle challenging situations and how working together is good, but we also need to know how to work independently to be effective.” The Prefect role is excellent preparation for college applications and for students considering applying for the Head Student team, helping to build leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
