Exploring T Level Health Tammy Quinn / 02 February 2026 / Categories: General Year 10 students on the Marsden Medics programme had the opportunity to visit Accrington & Rossendale College for the first time to take part in an introductory session on the T Level Health qualification. The group, which included Hyndburn Academy students, were welcomed onto campus with a guided tour of the college’s new Health facilities. Students were impressed with the facilities, which mirror medical environments providing a valuable insight into the world of healthcare training. During the visit, students took part in an engaging workshop focused on the importance of personal hygiene in medical settings, exploring how infection control and professional standards keep both staff and patients safe. They also learned about the different standards of care that healthcare professionals must follow, including safeguarding patients, identifying hazards to maintain a safe environment, using a person‑centred approach to healthcare, and maintaining dignity and respect for all individuals. These activities helped students understand the responsibilities involved in caring for others and highlighted the skills needed to thrive in future health-related careers. Michael, the T Level Health tutor, spoke to the group about the three specialist pathways available through the Health T Level: Adult Nursing, Mental Health and Midwifery. He also outlined the wide range of careers these pathways can lead to, helping students begin to think about their future aspirations. Mrs Ross, Careers Leads for Marsden Heights Community College, said: “The T-Level was a fantastic opportunity for students; many were inspired by the visit and are planning on attending college open events to explore their options further.” Marsden Medics is a specialised programme designed for students who aspire to pursue careers in healthcare.
