Honouring Service and Sacrifice Tammy Quinn / 11 November 2025 / Categories: General We were proud to stand alongside our community at the Remembrance Service at the Nelson Cenotaph to honour and remember all those who have served our country. To mark the occasion, Mashuq Hussain OBE laid a wreath in tribute to the South Asian soldiers who served in the British Indian Army during World War II - a moving recognition of their courage and contribution. Our students also had the opportunity to meet Mayor Mohammad Ammer and Michael Sutcliffe from Uniformed Services, who organised this meaningful event. As part of our wider Remembrance Commemorations, students will be reflecting on the meaning of service, sacrifice, and remembrance. They’ll also hear a powerful personal story from Mashuq Hussain OBE, Senior Youth and Community Worker. Inspired by his late father, Sergeant Ghulam Hussain, Mashuq shared his story on BBC Radio Lancashire and laid a wreath in honour of South Asian soldiers, helping bring these important histories to light. We’re proud to offer our students this opportunity to learn, reflect, and remember.
