Year 7 Road Safety Assembly Tammy Quinn / 07 October 2026 / Categories: General Year 7 students welcomed Performance in Education to school for a special Road Safety assembly delivered in association with Lancashire County Council. The interactive theatrical production, Streetwise, explored the importance of making safe choices when using roads independently. Through the stories of characters Jo, Will and Mark, students saw how distractions such as mobile phones and headphones can lead to dangerous situations. They also learned about Chloe, a young person involved in a road accident after rushing and failing to pay attention to her surroundings. Following the performance, students took part in a question-and-answer session, discussing how the characters could have made safer choices and considering the long-term impact road accidents can have on individuals and their families. They also learned about safe places to cross roads and ways to stay alert when travelling. The session concluded with a team quiz, testing students' knowledge of road safety signs, key facts and figures, and important road safety messages. The main takeaway from the assembly was simple but important: Stop, Look, Listen and Think. Feedback from students was positive, with one Year 7 commenting: “I learned that you should not mess around on the road and always pay attention to the road, even if you are on a zebra crossing. This will make me be a lot more careful.” We would like to thank Performance in Education and Lancashire County Council for delivering such an informative and engaging session that will help our students stay safe on the roads.
