TeenTech Festival Tammy Quinn / 23 June 2025 / Categories: General Year 9 students from Marsden Heights and Hyndburn Academy showcased their creativity, teamwork, and confidence during an inspiring day at the TeenTech Festival, at Edge Hill University. The day began with students working in small groups to design an innovative app or product. They developed pitches and presented their ideas to a large audience of peers from across Lancashire. These pitches were judged by professionals, and we are proud to announce winners in several key categories: Most Useful Innovation – Translation Headset Sania, Anshra, Aleena and Maheen (MH) Best Design – MePet Eva (MH) Alina (MH) Grace (HYA) and Hollie (HYA) Best Physical Innovation – "The Visionary S" Vanessa, Otis and James (HYA) Most Useful Innovation – "Window Blaster" McKenzie, Ollie, Dylan and Rayan (HYA) Students also took part in a wide range of interactive activities with employers, including theatre lighting with Blackpool Theatre, coding challenges, mock surgical procedures and exploring careers through virtual reality with the NHS. In the afternoon, they split into groups and engaged in exciting workshops on Robotics, Broadcasting TV, Oracle, Commvault, Egg Lander, and employer-led sessions. Mrs Ross, Careers Lead at Marsden Heights, said: “One of the highlights of the day was seeing students from Hyndburn and Marsden Heights forming new friendships, working collaboratively, and even exchanging numbers to stay in touch. “It was a proud moment to see the students’ enthusiasm, creativity, and maturity throughout the festival.
