Introduction to Higher Education Tammy Quinn / 11 March 2025 / Categories: General On 7th February, Year 9 pupils from both Marsden Heights Community College and The Hyndburn Academy had the exciting opportunity to visit Edge Hill University. The joint visit provided these pupils with their first university experience, to raise their aspirations and support their educational pathway planning. The day’s schedule of activities offered a valuable introduction to higher education. The pupils started with a tour of the university campus and facilities. There was also an opportunity to engage in a Q&A with university ambassadors, where they gained an insight into university life. Pupils conducted research into their areas of interest and explored potential related degrees. They were also provided with important information about UCAS application process. In addition to this, the pupils took part in careers activities that encouraged them to identify their skills and interests. Working together as a team, they designed an app tailored to university students, which sparked creativity and collaboration among them. Mrs Ross, Careers Lead at Marsden Heights said: “It was so positive to see pupils get excited about higher education, envision future possibilities, and understand the process from Year 9 to when they are ready to apply for University.” Previous Article Employer Engagement Experience at XLCR Next Article Building Bridges
