St Paul's C.E. Primary School Pupils Visit Marsden Heights

We were delighted to welcome Year 6 pupils from St Paul's C.E. Primary School to Marsden Heights Community College for a morning of engaging activities as part of our transition programme.

The visit was designed to help pupils feel confident about the move to high school, ease any worries they may have, and build excitement for the next stage of their educational journey.

The morning began with a series of fun ice-breaker activities led by our Community Team. Pupils took part in team-building and communication challenges, including finding their hand and shoe twins, lining up in birthday order using verbal communication, and arranging themselves by height without speaking. The activities encouraged pupils to work together, build confidence, and get to know one another in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Pupils then experienced life as a Marsden Heights student through lessons in Spanish and History.

In Spanish, they learned and sang the alphabet before putting their new language skills to the test in a range of interactive team games. Meanwhile, in History, pupils explored the concept of significance and discussed the purpose of time capsules. They then selected and explained personal items they would include in their own time capsules, providing important clues about who they are and what matters most to them.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to experience Key Stage 3 learning, meet staff, and begin building positive connections ahead of joining secondary school. We look forward to welcoming them back to Marsden Heights in the future.

Marsden Heights invites Year 5 and 6 parents, carers and pupils to our Open Evening on Wednesday 16^th September, from 4.00 – 7.00pm, to discover more about life and learning at our school.
