Newsletter 17 September 2023 Alyson Littlewood / 17 September 2023 / Categories: Headteacher's Blog Welcome back to life at Marsden Heights! We are delighted to be back with all our pupils, including our newest members of Marsden Heights ... our Year 7 pupils. We spent time with them the first week in the MHCC Way, where the senior staff introduced them to our values, behaviour for learning and they completed some orientation activities with them to acquaint them better with our beautiful building. We wish Miss Ingham and Mr Donaldson all the best as they both embark on their future roles ... they both contributed greatly to our development. In September we also welcomed new staff to school - they have been settling in beautifully. GCSE results over the Summer were set to cause controversy as the news was filled with the results being lower due to the grade boundaries returning to 2019 levels. It must have caused some worry for all those children set to pick up their results. Here at Marsden Heights we were affected but only slightly - from our results last year we were down 1% on our Grade 4+ and we were 5% down on our Grade 5+, still maintaining our position of being the leading school in Pendle. These results show what is possible for our future ... if we have been pulled down and we still gained those grades. The future is looking really rosy as we move into yet another phase of Marsden Heights's development. October is fast upon us and we are beginning to get ready for our Open Evening ... we are keen to share our results, our fabulous reading progress and our excellent facilities with families. I have attached our Open Evening invite in case you have any Y5 or Y6s and you wish to come and visit us again. Please spread the word about the wonderful things that are happening here - Marsden Heights is a school that is full - has admission requests daily, full waiting lists and appeals every month. I am thrilled with the progress we have been making and am delighted that we are continuing to offer such a wonderful experience for our pupils. More to be shared for next week as we prepare for our annual event of Year 7s walking up Pendle Hill - climbing our own mountains. I cannot wait! Alyson Next Article The Ripple Effect
