Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers Tammy Quinn / 29 April 2026 / Categories: General Year 9 and 10 students from across Lancashire recently came together at Burnley College to compete in the annual Enjoyneering Competition, an action-packed event designed to give learners a real taste of studying engineering in a professional environment. Students took part in a fast‑paced carousel of hands-on challenges that tested creativity, logic and teamwork. Throughout the day, teams tackled a range of engaging engineering tasks, including balloon car design and racing, bridge building under pressure, structural house construction, and an accuracy and power catapult challenge. Each round required students to design, problem-solve, calculate and analyse their ideas, with scores accumulated across the competition. All teams performed brilliantly, demonstrating resilience, communication and problem-solving skills beyond the classroom. Congratulations go to students from Marsden Heights Community College, who were crowned overall champions, with The Hyndburn Academy and St Bede’s achieving an excellent 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Well done to our winning students - Shahan, Is-Haaq, Aqib, Mariam and Sara, Year 9, and Zanain, Zainab, and Zoha, Year 10. The Enjoyneering Competition was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop STEM skills, gain confidence and explore future pathways in engineering, inspiring the next generation of engineers.
