The Crystal Maze Challenge Tammy Quinn / 06 July 2026 / Categories: General Thanks to the Maths Excellence Fund, a group of Year 9 and 10 students recently enjoyed an exciting and fully funded trip to The Crystal Maze Experience in Manchester. As part of our enrichment programme, we are committed to providing students with exciting opportunities to develop teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills beyond the classroom. Throughout the day, students tackled a variety of interactive challenges designed to test their logical thinking, reasoning and ability to work collaboratively. The experience provided an engaging way for students to apply the mathematical and problem-solving skills that we encourage every day in lessons. The highlight of the trip was seeing every student fully engaged and supporting one another to overcome the different challenges. Mr Hassan, Teacher of Maths, said: “It was particularly pleasing to see students step outside their comfort zones, take on leadership roles and work together effectively as a team. Several students described it as the best school trip they had ever been on, which was wonderful to hear!” The trip was fully funded through the Maths Excellence Fund, ensuring there was no cost to MHCC students. This valuable funding enables us to offer enriching experiences that promote mathematical thinking and problem-solving while ensuring all students can access high-quality educational opportunities.
